The SMS Manual is the executive-level document that outlines your company’s policies and practices to manage safety in all Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) operations. It serves as the primary reference for all personnel regarding their safety responsibilities and is the foundation upon which your entire RPOC is built.

Our SMS Manual is developed in accordance with the standards set by Transport Canada and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), structured around four essential pillars:
Safety Policy and Objectives: Explicitly commits your organization to developing, implementing, and constantly improving strategies to meet and exceed all regulatory requirements. It establishes safety as the primary responsibility of all personnel.
Safety Risk Management: Details the processes for systematic Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Mitigation. This includes the use of a formal Risk Assessment Matrix to quantitatively evaluate the severity and probability of operational risks.
Safety Assurance: Ensures the SMS is working effectively through performance monitoring, scheduled internal and external safety audits, and a formal Management of Change (MOC) process to safely integrate new technologies or procedures.
Safety Promotion: Cultivates a positive safety culture by ensuring the communication of safety-critical information and mandating annual Recurrent Safety Training for all involved personnel.
Key Features for RPOC Compliance
Accountable Executive (AE): Clearly defines the Accountable Executive who is responsible for providing the necessary funding and resources to fully implement and maintain the SMS. This satisfies a core TC requirement for management commitment.
Emergency Response Integration: Includes abbreviated Emergency Procedures for critical events like Loss of Control Link (Fly-Away), Intrusion into the Flight Area, and Critical Battery Warning, ensuring crew readiness and referencing the full Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
